Inspired by the movie Forest Gump, Going out Fishing is a pencil drawing of three rainbow-colored beached sailboats by Glenn Fisher of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fisher is an Army and Vietnam war Veteran.
An amateur artist, Fisher was encouraged to enter the local creative arts competition by his recreation therapist at the New Mexico VA Health Care System. Fisher is mostly self-taught but did complete several mechanical drawing courses as an aspiring architect. He enjoys drawing landscapes and portraits.
Moritz discovered a passion for photography "I have a spinal cord injury, I’m a paraplegic," explained Fisher. "Creative arts therapy takes my mind off the pain I have. It is a pleasure to get creative."
Going out Fishing is one of five pieces to be featured on the cover of JRRD in 2012. The featured artwork was chosen from hundreds of entries in local VA creative arts competitions. The journal staff selected 18 entries and forwarded them to the JRRD Editorial Board for final selection.Back to Artwork Gallery
